Justin is Trying to Think (Justin Will Return: Soon).

Sorry about the lack of a post today.

I guess with that "Aqua Teen Hunger Force" Security Scare in Boston a lot has been on my mind.

I will be back soon. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but someday soon; and for the rest of your life.

Anyway, I wrote a poem for you instead of a post. It is about living in a world where the distinction between an advertisement for a cartoon is indistinguishable from a security threat.

It is about a world where there is no Justice.

To be clear, I didn't write the whole poem, but I did add the phrase, "who am so awesome."

By Czeslaw Milosz & Justin Kahn

Under a starry sky I who am so awesome was taking a walk,
On a ridge overlooking neon cities,
With my companion, the spirit of desolation,
Who was running around and sermonizing,
Saying that I who am awesome was not necessary,
for if not I who am awesome, then someone else
Would be walking here, trying to understand his age.

Had I who am awesome died long ago nothing would have changed.
The same stars, cities and countries
Would have been seen with other eyes.
The world and its labors would go on as they do.

For Christ's sake, get away from me.
You've tormented me enough, I who am awesome said.
It's not up to me to judge the calling of men.
And my merits, if any, I who am awesome won't know anyway.

Ah, 6:14: the crack of dawn. I was beginning to worry the predator had "gotten" you. More importantly, I was worrying about how I could continue existence without my thrice-weekly dose of verbal insanity.

The world would have felt an emptiness, Awesome One, although it knew not why.

You're definitely a Zaphod.

butterfly girl,
I need time to think and to be sick. These days, those two activities have left me with little time to breathe.

A very beautiful concrete poem, as Robert Lax would call it.

But if you get rich off of it, I want a cut.

Zaphod from Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

Remember him? He looked at this thingy that measured one's relative importance to the universe and found out that unlike every other puny mortal who had done the test, he was truly significant.
