Long Titles Stink: Volume 4

Continued coverage of a book written this year and read by yours truly.

How did the Soviet Union, a political system which existed at third world country standards according to indexes like child mortality rates manage to maintain a status as super duper world power?

The answer is their intelligence.

The KGB managed to steal all kinds of super top secrets in the realm of Science and Technology.

In the late 60's AMERICAN scientists were circulating a paper called, "Sex and Pregnancy: A Possible Connection?" This is considered a seminal paper by anyone in biology, even the one that is I think no longer talking to me.

Well, the KGB smuggled this paper out of the country by writing it on the interior of their earlobes, and next thing you know the Soviets had our sharp, AMERICAN insights into the human condition.

But their dasterdly deeds didn't stop there. Service A went out of their way to spread Anti-American propaganda across the planet. Service A, forged diplomatic materials. Sometimes, American News Papers reprinted these despite certain tell tale signs(They English?? Not Always so good! With the words! Intel. officers with clearance, me am. Lanuage training, skimmed.)

I know. Forgery. What will they think of next. But believe me, it gets worse.

THE KGB TRIED TO RIG CHESS GAMES SO THAT SOVIET DEFECTORS, LIKE THOSE WHO PLAYED KARPOV (PICTURED ABOVE) WOULD NOT WIN!

I AM NOT EVEN MAKING THIS UP. TURN TO PAGE 487 WITH ME. READ THIS SENTENCE:
'A team of eighteen FCD operations officers was sent to the 1978 world chess championship in the Philippines to try to ensure the defeat of the defector Viktor Korchnoi by the Soviet world champion Anatoli Karpov.'

That is nuts.

I am so outraged, I don't know if I will be able to discuss this book any further.

You lucky dogs.

Justin,

Please forward this message to the Concept of Irony Public Relations Department:

Dear Concept of Irony Public Relations Department,

I heard somewhere that Justin taught college-level physical education and music classes. First, is this true? Second, what do Justin's students usually say about him?

Best Regards,
