Am I the only one who has seen "High Fidelity"?
Making a mix is hard. It requires work, and thought and real vulnerability.
Do I care if no one even ranks my itunes' imixes?
No. I don't care.
You can look at them. Or not.

It's easy to make a mix: you're using someone else's words to say what you feel. Here's an example:
April is the cruelest month, breeding
this loneliness that's killing me.
She's all States, and Princes I,
nothing else is; to be or not to be.
When I'm not with you I lose my mind,
brute heart of a brute like you.
Just like every cowboy sings a sad, sad song, I only wanna be with you.
See? Simple.
p-t buddha:
Sure if, I were occasionally enlightened, than it would be easy for me too. But I'm never, ever enlightened.
Anyway, for the rest of the audience, I'd like to point out that p-t b. has upped my imix by creating what is called academics call an intertextual text. This shows that he is a savy Joycean/ postmodernist. Whereas I am content with unenlightenment and Nick Hornby.
J.
P.S. I'm sorry you feel so strongly about April. Glad its over.
P.P.S That corpse you planted last year in your garden where the streets have no name?
Are you trying to turn us into you?? You are arn't you? by making play lists for us your attempting to mold us in your image!
I', reading another Nick Hornby book at the moment - A Long Way Down - its good
I've seen High fidelity and read the book, which is naturally better. I recently picked up an old cassette (tape) and played it in my brothers car. It was a perfect mixture of old grunge tunes and telephone pranks made by a radioshow here in Sweden. We argued and almost fought while in motion about which one of us had made the tape. It was fun.
kelmaree: That's the absolute latest one isn't it? I think I'd like to read it this summer. Can I borrow it? Maybe we could meet half way, like somewhere in Brazil?
J.
P.S.--Kelmaree, Yes I am trying to do something more complex. I am trying to turn myself into the image of everybody else. The end result is the same.
Niklas:
I'm glad you dropped by.
First, Isn't Ikea Sweedish? Curtis' fiance says no. I'd like to hear the answer from a world authority.
Second, I am not clear what you mean by casette. Maybe there isn't the right english word?
Still if a mix was involved it sounds like fun. Tell your brother I said Hi.
Justin
"April is the cruelest month..." I think I remember that from somewhere... ;)
I don't get it. What does April have to do with the price of fish? Or eggs for that matter?
*Scratches head with twig thoughtfully and wanders off into the gloaming*
Cool blog! I like it!
I have a friend who's convinced that "making mixes" are the sign of a suburban upbringing. I'm afraid he may be right.
Ahh, but mixing a mixed cassette was a whole different bird! How can you compare?! The fingers hovering over the pause button while trying to move the stylus to the correct position and not dropping it and making that horrible "squeakwhhreek" noise!
Also, John Cusack cracks me up.
I didnt know there was a movie of high fidelity- is it any good? bet the books better - books are almost always infinately better.
Dont think Brazil is halfway - think it might be closer to u (but then i was never any good at geography) still would be nice -
i hear they have good coffee
It's one of my favourite movies, but that's probably because the two losers in the movie are named Dick and Barry. My name : Dick Barry. I nearly laughed my arse off the first time I saw the movie and realized it.
